A few words about the 2007 OBCATS Tactical Challenge.

On behalf of all of us at OBCATS, I would like to thank all the people that worked so hard to make this match a success. A match like this one, or any other match requires a lot of pre-planning and a lot of onsite work to make happen. Matches need people to design and build the stages that we all enjoy shooting. Thank your local match staff by offering to help at the next match you attend.

OK, match report: Saturday was a bit damp, in fact, IT RAINED! However almost everyone that was registered showed up. If you stayed away you missed a good match. Sunday provided us with greatly improved weather. There were nine challenging stages requiring shooters to be fast, but also accurate.

The FINAL results for the 2007 3-Gun Challenge are posted below. Scoring was by hit factor to determine the stage winners. We then used the stage percentage of each shooter’s score against the stage winner to award the stage points. In this manner each stage is worth 100 points toward the match. We feel that in this makes every stage and every skill set equally important.

Winners will receive their prizes shortly. The prize pool is determined by the amount of money left over after expenses are all paid. This amount is divided by the number of competitors to determine how much each “share” is worth. Each division has it’s Prize Pool which is arrived at by multiplying the number of shooters in the division times the share value. We had a total of 71 shooters complete the match. There were 56 Tactical Shooters, so the Tactical Prize Pool was 56/71 of the amount available. Limited Prize Pool was 13/71 and Heavy Metal Prize Pool was 2/71. We then paid 1/3 of the shooters in each division on a sliding scale. In tactical this meant 18 shooters were paid, 6 in each of three cuts, Limited having 12 shooters, we paid 4 shooters, 2 in each of two cuts. Heavy Metal was paid 1 prize.
